The new generation of KOSTAL Wallboxes elegantly solves this dilemma. With the ENECTOR G2 MID, you can combine intelligent energy management with a MID-compliant billing function.
What is a MID wallbox?
The abbreviation MID stands for the European Measuring Instruments Directive. A meter certified under this directive ensures that the kilowatt-hours (kWh) measured are recorded with high precision, are tamper-proof and are calibrated.
If you are charging your private electric car, a simple digital meter in the device is entirely sufficient. However, as soon as money is involved – i.e. if your employer reimburses you for the electricity costs of charging your company car – MID-certified recording is, in most cases, a legal requirement. A meter without MID certification must not be used as the basis for official billing.

The second generation of the ENECTOR retains all the strengths of its popular predecessor – with exciting new features and enhanced convenience. As a system charger, the ENECTOR G2 MID model combines your home-generated energy with modern electric mobility and billing functionality.

How it works: surplus PV charging & company car billing
The wallbox communicates directly with the KOSTAL inverter (e.g. PLENTICORE G3) or the KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter G2. The system always prioritises your solar power. As soon as your PV system generates surplus energy, it flows directly into the car.
The MID version precisely logs the energy charged during the charging process. The charging data can be displayed transparently via the software and app interfaces. An optional connection to a billing backend is possible thanks to OCCP 1.6 (the data required for the connection to a backend is provided by the backend operator or the company commissioned for billing).
This allows you to maximise your self-consumption, actively reduce the carbon footprint of your company car, and still maintain full financial transparency for reimbursement purposes.
