VARTA introduces VARTA.wall BM2: another storage solution for the KOSTAL PLENTICORE

With the VARTA.wall BM2, VARTA is launching an advanced, modular high-voltage storage solution featuring clearly defined expansion stages, high power density and broad inverter compatibility. The new generation of the VARTA.wall offers a modular LFP high-voltage storage system specifically designed to meet the requirements of modern photovoltaic systems.
 

The combination of scalable capacity, a sleek design and compatibility with the KOSTAL PLENTICORE (G2/G3) inverter makes the solution particularly attractive for use in detached and semi-detached homes as well as in small commercial settings.

 

Storage solution for the KOSTAL PLENTICORE 

In combination with the KOSTAL PLENTICORE, this creates a flexibly scalable system for typical residential applications. Installers benefit from a clear system architecture and simple integration – both in new builds and when retrofitting existing systems.

KOSTAL & Varta: Modular system concept for flexible configuration

The VARTA.wall is based on a simple structure comprising a base unit, battery modules and a master unit. Depending on requirements, up to four battery modules can be integrated. In the BM2 variant, this results in a usable storage capacity of:

• 9 kWh (2 modules)
• 13.5 kWh (3 modules)
• 18 kWh (4 modules) 
   

The system thus covers typical applications ranging from optimising self-consumption to advanced storage solutions.

Performance and technology
 

The lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology used ensures high cycle stability and operational reliability. With a maximum charge and discharge current of 26 A and a system output of up to 9.3 kW (when fully expanded), the VARTA.wall provides a solid foundation for high-performance PV systems.

Slim design for flexible installation

With a depth of just 14 cm, the VARTA.wall can be installed in a space-saving manner. It can be used both indoors and in sheltered outdoor areas. The extended temperature range offers additional flexibility when choosing a location.

With its modular design, robust performance and open interface structure, the VARTA.wall positions itself as a flexible storage solution in the growing market for cross-sector energy concepts. For installers, this results in a system that is easy to plan, install and integrate into various system concepts.

Commissioning is carried out either via the VARTA.install app or via a local web interface. Status LEDs assist installers with rapid on-site diagnosis and commissioning.
 

KOSTAL: The interface between PV and storage
 

The KOSTAL PLENTICORE is the central interface between the photovoltaic system and the storage unit – and this is precisely where its strength lies. As a hybrid inverter, it enables the direct DC-side integration of high-voltage batteries. This reduces conversion losses and noticeably increases the overall efficiency of the system – a decisive factor for cost-effectiveness and self-consumption.

For installers, this means: less complexity, clear system architecture and high planning reliability. For operators: greater independence, better utilisation of self-generated electricity and a future-proof investment.
