KOSTAL PLENTICORE G3 inverter certified for Finland’s reserve market

The PLENTICORE G3 inverter from KOSTAL and the innovative Enion 3 energy management device form a smart combination for optimising self-consumption and, thanks to the recent approval and certification by the Finnish transmission system operator Fingrid, now also enable participation in the Reserve Market for grid services. The Reserve Market is a specialised electricity market where plant operators provide balancing energy at short notice to contribute to stability and a secure electricity supply in the event of grid fluctuations.

What’s new?

The latest Fingrid certification confirms that the Enion 3, in combination with the KOSTAL PLENTICORE G3 inverter, meets all requirements for the Finnish Reserve Market. This means that plant operators are ideally positioned for grid services where particularly fast response times to frequency deviations are required. For example, the system easily meets the maximum response time of 0.7 seconds required by Fingrid for Fast Frequency Reserve (FFR).

The third-generation KOSTAL PLENTICORE inverter is a versatile inverter that can be used as a solar, battery or hybrid inverter. A key feature is its flexible scalability: depending on requirements, the output can be expanded by two stages per size, making it easier to adapt to increasing energy demands. In the event of a power cut, the integrated backup power function ensures that consumers can continue to be supplied with energy. The unit is compatible with various high-voltage batteries and supports the efficient storage and use of solar power. 

Technical advantages also include the wide MPP range, modern safety features such as DC surge protection, and several digital interfaces for connecting devices or monitoring systems. Installation is straightforward thanks to the compact design and user-friendly connections, and system monitoring is provided free of charge via the KOSTAL Portal and app.
