PLENTICOIN
The most important points - briefly summarised - in the quick check
✔ Single-purpose voucher for functions (e.g. battery, wallbox)
✔ Digital/physical purchase → Redemption in the Solar App or Solar Webshop
✔ Retrieve activation code for activation on the device
✔ Only for authorised installers
✔ Flexible, modular, legally compliant
Introduction
The PLENTICOIN is a digital or physical single-purpose voucher from KOSTAL that installers can use to retrieve the activation code for certain functions of KOSTAL products - such as the battery connection for a PLENTICORE inverter or convenience functions for the ENECTOR Wallbox. It serves as a flexible activation system that allows installers to expand devices in a modular and demand-orientated manner. After purchase - either online or as a physical card - the PLENTICOIN is booked into the company's own account in the KOSTAL Solar Terminal. It can then be redeemed directly on site or via the KOSTAL Solar App PRO. The redemption generates an activation code that is transferred to the respective device to activate the desired function.
The main difference between PLENTICOIN and activation code lies in their function: the PLENTICOIN is the means of payment, the activation code is the technical means of extending the function. Only authorised installers can carry out this process, which ensures quality and legal security. The system also enables flexible project planning, as functions can also be activated retrospectively - exactly when they are needed.
Conclusion: PLENTICOIN is a central tool for modern, efficient installation and service processes in the KOSTAL system.
PLENTICOIN vs. activation code
The most important points - briefly summarised - in the quick check
✔ PLENTICOIN = voucher, activation code = activation code
✔ PLENTICOIN is purchased & redeemed redeemed → results in activation code
✔ Redemption only by authorised installers
✔ Activation code is entered on the device
✔ PLENTICOIN are not function-bound, therefore flexible to stock
✔ With PLENTICOIN and activation code, "purchase" & "technology" are separated = secure, professional, traceable
The PLENTICOIN is a voucher that is purchased and redeemed - the activation code is the result of this redemption and is entered on the device.
In short:
- PLENTICOIN = voucher for activation code
- Activation code = activation code to be entered on the device
The difference between PLENTICOIN and activation code lies in the procedure for extending the functions of KOSTAL devices. A PLENTICOIN is a digital or physical voucher that is purchased by the installer. An activation code is only generated when the PLENTICOIN is redeemed for a specific function - for example, battery activation for the PLENTICORE G3. This activation code is an alphanumeric code that is then entered directly on the device or - even more conveniently - via the KOSTAL Solar app.
Why the separation between PLENTICOIN and activation code?
PLENTICOINs are not function-bound, but can be redeemed for different purposes - e.g. battery activation, power upgrade or wallbox convenience functions. This allows an installer to stockpile PLENTICOINs in advance without specifying what they will be used for.
Only authorised installers with the appropriate role in the KOSTAL Solar Terminal can redeem PLENTICOINs. This ensures that function expansions are carried out professionally and traceably.
KOSTAL separates the "commercial" (PLENTICOIN) and "technical" (activation code) parts of the activation process. The PLENTICOIN handles the "commercial" part of the activation, while the activation code handles the "technical" part. Both are part of the same process, but have clearly separate tasks. This increases flexibility, security and professionalism in the installation process.
Service code
The most important points - briefly summarised - in the quick check
✔ Personal installer password
✔ Access to extended system/grid parameters
✔ Only with "Installation" role in the Solar Terminal
✔ No activation code, but configuration access
✔ Required for grid conformity & safety
✔ Indispensable for professional commissioning
Introduction
The KOSTAL service code is a personal installer password that is specially provided for certified specialist partners. It grants access to advanced system settings for inverters such as the PLENTICORE inverter.
The service code can be used to adjust grid-relevant parameters, for example for feed-in limitation, for the integration of ripple control receivers or for the configuration of energy meters and external hardware components. These settings are specified by law or by the grid operator and may only be made by qualified installers. The service code is provided via the personal user account in the KOSTAL Solar Terminal as soon as the installer has been assigned the corresponding role ("Installation").
In contrast to the PLENTICOIN or activation code, which are used to activate technical functions such as battery utilisation or power extensions, the service code is purely for access to more in-depth system functions. It is not an activation code, but a security-relevant instrument for setting up and customising technical parameters. The service code is therefore indispensable for many installation and network configuration tasks.
Conclusion: The Service Code enables professional, legally compliant and customisable commissioning and configuration of KOSTAL inverters - and is therefore an essential tool for qualified installers in their day-to-day work.
The "Setup Wizard" in the KOSTAL Solar App
The most important points - briefly summarised - in the quick check
✔ Guided initial commissioning (e.g. PLENTICORE G3)
✔ Access with master key & service code
✔ Selection & configuration of relevant components
✔ Activation codes are automatically adopted
✔ Step-by-step wizard, can be used offline
✔ No PC required, mobile via solar app
✔ Secure, standardised, efficient
Introduction
The Setup Wizard in the KOSTAL Solar App is a guided setup wizard for the structured and secure initial commissioning of KOSTAL inverters, such as the PLENTICORE G3. After logging in using the master key of the device and a valid service code, the setup wizard enables the specific selection of relevant system components - such as PV generator, energy meter, battery storage, back-up switch or backup box. This selection automatically determines the further course of the configuration.
Activation codes that have already been redeemed, e.g. via previously purchased PLENTICOINs, are integrated directly into the set-up process and taken into account accordingly. The wizard guides you step by step through all the necessary settings; each configuration page is saved before the next step takes place. Once completed, the network settings can be adjusted, the parameterisation report downloaded or a network and system protection test started, among other things.
The Setup Wizard also works offline via a local WLAN connection to the inverter. This makes the tool particularly suitable for installations at locations without internet access.
Conclusion: The setup wizard ensures that all required parameters are set correctly and offers an efficient, standardised solution for professional commissioning - without an additional PC or separate configuration software.
Master Key
The most important points - briefly summarised - in the quick check
✔ Device-specific installer password (type plate)
✔ User name for installer login (with service code)
✔ Access to setup wizard & advanced settings
✔ Protection against unauthorised access
✔ Can be used locally & offline directly on the device
Introduction
The Master Key is a device-specific installer password that is printed on the rating plate of a KOSTAL inverter - such as the PLENTICORE G3 - either as plain text or as a QR code. In combination with the personal service code, the master key enables access to the inverter's installer mode.
This access is required to make system-relevant settings, for example during initial commissioning or for subsequent configuration changes. The master key acts as a user name that is entered in the KOSTAL Solar app or in the device's integrated web server. It is particularly important to enter the master key when starting the Setup Wizard in order to access the extended installation functions.
This combination is also mandatory for accessing network parameterisations or safety-critical settings. The master key ensures that only authorised specialist partners are permitted to carry out configurations on the device. It thus serves to secure the installation against unauthorised tampering and supports standard-compliant, reliable commissioning.
Conclusion: The Master Key is therefore a central element in the KOSTAL system for the authentication of specialised personnel and the secure management of inverters - it can be used locally, quickly and directly on the device without any additional tools.
