Intelligent connections and sector coupling are at the top of the agenda at KOSTAL Solar Electric. This is reflected in the compatibility between the KOSTAL inverters of the PLENTICORE series and the RESU FLEX battery storage systems from LG Energy Solution.
The KOSTAL PLENTICORE plus and PLENTICORE BI inverters together with LG Energy Solution battery storage systems form a modern team for independence in solar energy generation. The high-voltage NMC battery RESU FLEX offers a usable storage capacity of 8.6 kWh to 17.2 kWh.

All RESU FLEX configurations have high energy densities and compact, very slim designs, making them ideal for high-performance applications in confined spaces, e.g. in basements, household rooms or outdoors. Depending on the design, 2 to 4 modules form a complete system.
In conjunction with the PLENTICORE, the RESU FLEX storage systems offer flexible and easy-to-expand PV system designs and therefore the appropriate performance for every situation. Depending on the design, the voltage range varies between 192 and 531.2 volts, with a maximum charge/discharge current of 22 amps for the PLENTICORE BI and 13 amps for the PLENTICORE plus. This results in a charging/discharging power of 2.5-6.5 kW (PLENTICORE plus) or up to 10 kW (PLENTICORE BI), which guarantees the supply.

The PLENTICORE plus is always a suitable inverter for any solar system, as it can generate solar power and distribute it to various consumers such as the RESU FLEX battery. This versatility translates into great efficiency for users. Thanks to the integrated AutoUpdate functionality, the PLENTICORE is always up to date. This increases device performance and ease of use, as additional new functions are easily available via activation codes. PLENTICORE's power of up to 10 kW is realised through interface expansion for device networking and outputs in higher system security control and a larger number of components such as additional inverters or directly controlled loads. Heat pumps, wall boxes and other smart home applications can be sustainably supplied with solar power.
The hybrid and battery inverter versions of the PLENTICORE can connect additional AC sources such as wind turbines, combined heat and power plants, fuel rods or simply other solar systems, thus creating large energy reserves from a mix that goes beyond solar energy.
Solar storage tanks LG RESU FLEX and PLENTICORE - that means versatile, customisable installation
Thanks to their IP 55 certification, PLENTICORE inverters are suitable for indoor and outdoor wall-mounted installation. Push-in terminals ensure simple wiring without tools. The connection to the KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter or KOSTAL Energy Meter energy meters can be easily established via the existing Modbus RTU interface.
Communication with the network/web server is wireless via WLAN or wired with LAN via the RJ45 port and is quick and easy to set up. The PLENTICORE devices are configured at the factory to minimise installation effort. This saves time and money.
The RESU FLEX battery system is also quickly connected to the PLENTICORE. Depending on the configuration, two to four modules are inserted into the housing and connected internally by cable. Stands for the module units and the battery control system are included in the accessories for ground operation, making RESU FLEX easy to set up. The compactness of the storage system is particularly evident in the dimensional depth of 14.8 cm per module unit. LG Energy Solution has managed to slim down the module by using smaller JS1 battery cells and dispensing with a DC/DC converter. Wall mounting is just as easy using the brackets supplied. All elements are wired together from the terminal block in the centre.
Not only do the PLENTICORE inverters have special safety components that comply with regulations and ensure trouble-free operation, LG RESU FLEX also uses special features to protect against faults such as overvoltage, overcurrent, short circuits and overheating.
The KOSTAL PLENTICORE is connected to the RESU FLEX battery system from LG by cable from the BPU battery control unit of the RESUFLEX to the DC interfaces of the inverters. The battery port on the PLENTICORE plus must be activated by code activation in the KOSTAL web server. Communication between the inverter and the RESU FLEX battery takes place via the common RS485/CAN and Ethernet communication interface on the PLENTICORE communication board and the battery's "Battery Protection Unit". In this way, the integrated battery management system of the LG storage system harmonises with PLENTICORE and can be connected quickly and easily.
LG RESU FLEX and PLENTICORE battery storage systems - Commissioning
The inverters in the PLENTICORE series are quickly commissioned in conjunction with the LG RESU FLEX battery system.
The device status is shown on the device via an LED display and is therefore easy to read.
To recognise the RESU FLEX device on the inverter, the device QR code of the LG battery is scanned wirelessly via WLAN, automatically recognised and integrated into the PV system via the web server using the commissioning assistant on a smartphone or tablet. Basic data, options, configuration and activation completion can be realised quickly in four steps. If desired, external battery control and various battery utilisation modes can also be selected, so that a sleep mode can also be taken into account to conserve the battery.
Monitoring PLENTICORE with battery storage from LG - with KOSTAL Solar Portal optimally in focus
With PLENTICORE and the LG RESU FLEX battery unit, monitoring of PV system events and system changes is possible at any time via the free monitoring solution KOSTAL Solar Terminal/KOSTAL Solar Portal. Solar installers and end customers alike benefit from a secure, detailed and convenient visualisation of PV system and battery activity. The Solar Portal shows the complete PV system activity live and around the clock. The KOSTAL Solar Portal automatically reports on events and thus offers rapid analyses for reliable operation. All retrievals and entries are displayed in a clear and easy-to-understand menu-driven manner and are easy to operate using a smartphone or tablet.
