Sustainably designed, award-winning in execution: KOSTAL PLENTICORE G3

The PLENTICORE G3 combines technological innovation with resource-conscious design – and has been honored with the prestigious Red Dot Award: Product Design 2025.

With its modular architecture, integrated functional expansions, and consistently sustainable construction, the PLENTICORE G3 sets new standards in product design. The KOSTAL PLENTICORE G3 inverter has now received the renowned Red Dot Award in the “Product Design 2025” category. This award recognizes outstanding product design and highlights KOSTAL’s innovative strength in solar technology.

Form follows function – and wins: KOSTAL PLENTICORE G3

The PLENTICORE G3 stands out with its modular design, enabling flexible power scaling. The KOSTAL inverter can be used as a solar, hybrid, or battery inverter, offering a wide range of applications. Furthermore, the PLENTICORE G3 is the only inverter with function and power upgrades made in Germany.

For example, battery usage for a photovoltaic system can be activated at a later stage. Power output can also be expanded – during installation or afterward. This allows photovoltaic systems to be extended and scaled up, even years after installation. Power and battery expansions can be implemented without replacing or retrofitting hardware. This makes the KOSTAL inverter particularly efficient and sustainable – beyond its core function of generating solar energy.

"With the PLENTICORE G3, we have created a design that visibly combines technological innovation, modular expandability, and lived sustainability. For us, good design is not just about appearance – it reflects the internal values and technical quality of this highly complex product. At the same time, it meets the highest ergonomic standards that our customers expect during installation."
Frank Henn, Managing Director of KOSTAL Solar Electric GmbH.

In total, one inverter from the PLENTICORE series can be used in nine different application scenarios. The concept of functional upgrades reduces the need for additional hardware, allows for flexible PV system expansion, and enables future enhancements – such as the integration of a battery.

This modular concept is also a unique feature in product design: the hardware remains constant, while the functionality grows digitally. This reduces material usage, minimizes installation effort, and significantly extends the product’s lifecycle. This intelligent interplay of form, function, and sustainability makes the design of the PLENTICORE G3 truly unique – and was a key factor in its recognition with the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2025.

Red Dot Award for PLENTICORE G3

The Red Dot jury particularly praised the device’s clear design language, user-friendliness, and sustainable manufacturing. The inverter is produced in Hagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, and stands out for its robust construction and efficient use of resources.

In addition to the Red Dot Award, the PLENTICORE G3 has also received the German Design Award 2025 and the GOOD DESIGN® Award, further underscoring its exceptional position in the field of product design.

With these accolades, KOSTAL reinforces its position as a leading provider of innovative and sustainable energy solutions “Made in Germany.”
