The ‘Made in Europe’ bonus, which will start in Austria in June 2025 as part of the second round of subsidies, grants a subsidy of up to 20% for photovoltaic and electricity storage projects with components from Europe. The prerequisite is the use of components whose essential manufacturing stages were carried out in the EU or the EEA.
The subsidy is specifically targeted at components such as inverters and battery storage systems – areas in which European technology leaders have particular expertise. To benefit from the bonus, the relevant system components must be precisely listed on the official subsidy list.
The ‘Made in Europe’ bonus now enables an additional 10% subsidy for customers who use KOSTAL inverters.
Strength with European quality
The ‘Made in Europe’ bonus promotes components with significant manufacturing steps within the EU, the EEA or Switzerland. Only products that are on an official whitelist, which has been verified by independent conformity assessment bodies, are eligible.
With its inclusion, KOSTAL, as an official partner of this subsidy initiative, is sending a strong signal for European production and European-based value creation.
KOSTAL inverters at a glance
• Three-phase hybrid inverter – can be used as a solar, hybrid or battery storage inverter
• Modularity & scalability – software upgrades allow new functions to be integrated at a later date
• Safety & smart features – WiFi, Modbus TCP, SG Ready, free monitoring
• Future-proof and durable – automatic firmware update system and high efficiency standard
In addition, KOSTAL inverters have already received several awards, including the prestigious GOOD DESIGN® Award and the pv magazine Innovation Award – a clear sign of excellent design and technology at an international level.
Subsidy benefits for system operators
Anyone who installs a PV system with KOSTAL in future will automatically receive an additional 10% subsidy – provided that the entire system meets the EAG criteria. If the system is also supplemented with a European storage unit, such as the Varta.wall, a further 10% bonus subsidy is possible.
How the subsidy works
1. Check: KOSTAL inverters are on the EAG processing agency's whitelist
2. Planning: Use in combination with European solar modules and a compatible storage system (e.g. VARTA.wall)
3. Applying: Submit your subsidy application on the EAG portal (call for applications opens on 23 June 2025 at 5 p.m.)
4. Follow up: Eligibility for subsidies remains valid even after the final invoice has been issued, provided that the inverter has been installed and documented
Made in Europe pays off
The ‘Made in Europe’ bonus is an important signal for the European energy transition. Solar components manufactured in Europe combine high technical standards with forward-looking innovation and reliable safety – added value for manufacturers, tradespeople and customers.
