KOSTAL now compatible with Tibber

The connection between KOSTAL and Tibber allows generation and consumption data to be displayed in real time. This enables homeowners to optimise their own consumption, reduce electricity costs and automatically control energy-intensive appliances when electricity prices are low.

Intelligent energy management with KOSTAL and Tibber

The combination of KOSTAL inverters and the Tibber app offers homeowners maximum transparency, efficiency and cost control. While KOSTAL inverters intelligently control energy flows in the home – from PV generation to storage and consumption – Tibber ensures that electricity is used as cheaply and sustainably as possible.
Dynamic electricity tariffs allow energy-intensive devices such as wall boxes or heat pumps to run automatically when the price of electricity is particularly low. At the same time, the Tibber app shows in real time how much energy is being produced, stored or fed into the grid. This allows you to increase your own consumption and degree of self-sufficiency, reduce electricity costs and significantly reduce your carbon footprint.

The new compatibility creates a coordinated energy management system that reacts intelligently and thus actively contributes to your own energy transition – with hardware "Made in Germany" from KOSTAL and smart software from Scandinavia from Tibber.

What is required?

The Tibber Pulse IR is required for integration – a smart electricity tracker that establishes the connection between the electricity meter and the Tibber cloud. The Pulse IR consists of two components: the Pulse and the Bridge. The Pulse is connected directly to the digital electricity meter, where it reads the measured values. The Bridge receives this data via radio and transmits it to Tibber via Wi-Fi. This allows consumption and feed-in data to be displayed in the Tibber app with two-second accuracy and thus almost in real time.
For the connection to work, a few requirements must be met: The electricity meter must be digital and have an IR or LED interface (modern measuring device). In addition, a stable Wi-Fi connection should be available near the meter so that the Bridge can communicate reliably. An active, fully dynamic Tibber electricity tariff is also required for use. The KOSTAL inverter – for example, a PLENTICORE G3, PLENTICORE plus or PLENTICORE MP – can then be easily added and connected via the Tibber app.

Note: Please activate the Modbus TCP interface in the KOSTAL inverter and enable the external battery control. The latter can only be done by a KOSTAL installer with a service code.
