KOSTAL's ENECTOR wallbox wins Design Award

The ENECTOR wallbox is the first AC wall-mounted charging station that KOSTAL has developed in-house and it recently celebrated its world première at INTERSOLAR 2021. Now the ENECTOR wallbox has been awarded this year's “Special Mention” GERMAN DESIGN AWARD for its innovative and dynamic design.

This means that ENECTOR has received a key award for its successful combination of design and engineering even before delivery has commenced (end of Q1 2022). The jury for the GERMAN DESIGN AWARD praised, in particular, the functional yet strong design of the KOSTAL wallbox with its clear lines.

A star in terms of high performance

Convenient handling with a multifunctional design

In keeping with the classic design requirement of “form and function”, the robust housing with its dynamic lines fulfils several tasks at once. Firstly, it serves as a receptacle for the 7.5-metre-long charging cable with type 2 charging plug, which is included in the scope of delivery. Secondly, the central LED display on the front of the housing makes it easy to see the charging mode and all important status messages. Thanks to its compact dimensions and protected housing, the KOSTAL wallbox can be installed safely both indoors and outdoors without taking up too much space.

“The guiding principle for the design of the wallbox was the proven design language of the PLENTICORE plus inverter. Therefore, the ENECTOR wallbox is part of the KOSTAL design family and once again impresses with its fusion of innovative technology and the highest design standards,” says Kevin Klöcker, product designer at Wuppertal-based GENERATIONDESIGN. “The dynamic shape and the cooling ribs hinted at on the rear create an exciting design – also making reference to KOSTAL's automotive roots – and illustrate its use in e-mobility.”

About the ENECTOR wallbox

The ENECTOR wallbox, now an award-winning product, is delivered ready for connection and is immediately ready for use thanks to its user-friendly “Plug & Charge” principle. It is also compatible with a wide range of fully electric vehicles and hybrid models.

The ENECTOR wallbox from KOSTAL can charge compatible fully electric vehicles and hybrid models quickly and safely from all available power sources. The wallbox offers a single-phase charging power of up to 3.7 kW and a three-phase charging power of up to 11 kW.

The ENECTOR wallbox comes into its own when combined with the KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter and the KOSTAL Solar App. With the appropriate activation code, the user has access to various charging modes. In addition to Solar Pure Mode (pure solar charging), the wallbox also offers Solar Plus Mode (solar-assisted charging). The wallbox can then be controlled in real time via the KOSTAL Solar App, which won the RED Dot Award in 2019, among other things for its innovative monitoring and intuitive operation.

About the GERMAN DESIGN AWARD

The German Design Award has been presented to German and international manufacturers and designers for innovative projects and products since 2011. The prestigious awards are presented in three main categories: communication design, product design and architecture.

The jury for the award is the RAT FÜR FORMGEBUNG (German Design Council), a non-profit foundation and German brand and design authority that was established as a foundation in 1953 at the initiative of the German Bundestag. Today, the RAT FÜR FORMGEBUNG is one of the world's leading centres of excellence in the design industry.
