Storing solar power with the PIKO BA System – smart, communicative, independent

Photovoltaics are a safe, renewable and sustainable source of energy. The solar modules on the roof work with the inverter to transform sunlight into usable energy. However, this solar power isn't generated all the time – only when the sun shines. So what happens after the sun goes down?

With the PIKO BA System storage solution (consisting of a battery inverter and an external battery), you will have solar power round the clock. The PIKO BA inverter converts the energy produced into usable solar power, which can be stored as required in the PIKO Battery, a storage unit made by fortelion, or the BYD B-Box high-voltage battery, until you need to use it. This enables you to increase your level of self-consumption and cut your electricity costs.

Make smart use of your energy through more self-consumption

The solar power produced and stored throughout the day enables you to watch television or cook at any time without purchasing extra electricity. The PIKO BA smart energy management system works together with the PIKO BA Sensor to respond to varying household requirements fully automatically and with no inconvenience for the user. You have a guaranteed supply of power at all times assuming maximum self-consumption.

How does it work?

The PIKO BA Sensor measures the amount of power your household needs. The battery inverter's smart energy management system distributes the power to where it is required. And this enables you to reduce the amount of power you have to buy from an external source. 
On sunny days, your 5 kWp photovoltaic system is able to output 5 kW. Legal regulations, however, mean your inverter has to restrict this power to 70%. Your PIKO inverter uses the PIKO BA Sensor to detect your actual household consumption. The energy used directly can be added to the limited amount (70%), thus allowing you to fully exploit the power of the PV system and avoid limitation losses.

With the high usable storage capacity of up to 8.6 kWh, you can become more independent of your energy supplier and meet up to 60% of your annual power requirement through your PV system (depending on your individual energy consumption).
