"Smart connections." - KOSTAL Solar Electric and KOSTAL Industrial Electronics at Intersolar
At this year's Intersolar from June 19 to 21, 2013 in Munich, KOSTAL Solar Electric and KOSTAL Industrial Electronics will be presenting smart connections for the future at their shared stand (hall B4, stand 310).
These are reflected first in the overall competence of KOSTAL, and at the same time in the individual photovoltaic products: Our PV module junction boxes of the SAMKO brand, with the help of our photovoltaic connector KSK 4, connect not only the individual solar modules to one another, but also lead to our PIKO inverter such as the new PIKO BA inverter with integrated energy management system. This forms the intelligent PIKO BA system in combination with external storage. This system can consume energy in the house, store it or feed it into the grid. The PIKO BA can also be used as a normal string inverter, which enables subsequent retrofitting of the battery. The photovoltaic energy is thus used intelligently.
Smart connections can also be found with our new PIKO generation: In addition to the future-oriented appearance, here you will also find technical innovations, such as an expanded MPP range and higher input current limits, simplified handling and installation, as well as a more visible and better protected DC switch. The new PIKO generation is of course equipped with the proven integrated communication and monitoring system. This includes, among other things, the active power control, data logger, and all other relevant interfaces. This extensive offering is complemented by additional, convenience-oriented accessories such as the PIKO Data Communicator.
The new PIKO Plan 2.0 software makes it easier for the installer to configure the inverters with user-friendly handling in that the user receives a recommendation for a PIKO inverter, taking the provided system data into account.
With PIKO M2M Service, we offer another smart connection: The innovative service enables secure, automated and stable data transfer between the PIKO inverters and the PIKO Solar Portal via the mobile network so that continuous monitoring of your system is ensured.
However, smart connections are not only found in and between our products, but can in fact also be made in the context of a professional dialogue with personal contact at our shared stand in hall B4, stand 310. The already traditional "Smart connections." stand party on June 19, 2013 as of 6:00 p.m. is an excellent opportunity to do so.

New inverter layout software PIKO Plan 2.0 from KOSTAL Solar Electric available now
With the new PIKO Plan 2.0, KOSTAL Solar Electric has developed software to replace the existing PIKO Plan program based on Excel and simplify the laying out of inverters for installers with user-friendly handling. Taking the entered system data into account, the user is provided with a recommendation for a PIKO inverter that is tailored to the planned PV system.
PIKO Plan 2.0 also offers other advantages: Once the number of solar modules or the desired kWp power, as well as the layout and inclination of the individual roof areas are entered, the software determines, among other factors, the connection of the individual strings to the inputs of the PIKO inverters, which further simplifies layout work.
Also new is the possibility to forecast the annual total yield of the PV system. This forecast is based on historical weather data. The anticipated total yield of the PV system is converted into euros taking into account the possible internal consumption share and the electricity purchase costs saved as a result, Another feature is the issuance of the amount of CO2 emissions avoided with the planned solar system. This makes clear the value by which the environmental burden is reduced.
In addition to the improved inverter layout, the new software also assists in the creation of quotations. In this way, the entered technical data is expanded by customer, project and installer data, and is added to the quotation as an overview in PDF format. In addition to this, the planning can also be saved in a project file and processed further as required. The KOSTAL philosophy of "Smart connections." is also reflected here.
PIKO Plan 2.0 is available now for download at no charge.

The future starts here with the new PV inverter PIKO 3.0 from KOSTAL Solar Electric
The PV inverter PIKO 3.0 from KOSTAL Solar Electric is now available in a new, future-oriented design. With it, the Freiburg-based company is addressing the current requirements of the photovoltaic market and thereby reflects the brand philosophy of "Smart connections." both in a visual and a technical respect.
Functional improvements were realisedin the process, which simplify both installation and operation, while also increasing the degree of efficiency. In concrete terms this involves the graphic display with three capacitive buttons, which, serving as an interface, simplify operation and commissioning. The interfaces familiar from and proven with current PIKOs, such as TCP/IP for the laptop or the PIKO portal, the connection of a ripple control receiver and the integrated data logging have been maintained and are delivered with each device as a standard.
In addition to this, the newly designed DC switch is now integrated into the side of the device, which offers better protection and at the same time makes it easy to use. In the process, the switch has been designed larger and more robust, so that it meets the expectations of a switch both in mechanical terms and from the switching feeling. The switching status is easily visible from the front in the mounted state.
The PIKOs known on the market as small and light have also been equipped with lateral recessed grips, which further simplify the handling of the device. The installer is thus assisted in installing the PV systems quickly and with low personnel expenditure.
The packaging of the PIKO was also revised in the process. In contrast to the previous packaging, the carton is now designed upright, which means it also has a lower centre of gravity. Both ensure that the handling of the device is also easy when packaged.
